Guest Talk –  Living Authentically in the Age of AI
By Ishita Mishra

Deens PU College recently hosted an insightful seminar by Mr. Ramakrishnan Selvaraj, a distinguished speaker and also a proud parent of a student at Deens PUC. The session focused on the theme of living authentically in the modern world, especially in light of the rapid rise of Artificial Intelligence and the influence of societal norms.

Mr. Selvaraj began by dispelling the fear that AI will replace humans, instead highlighting how it creates opportunities for a more mindful and purposeful life. He urged students to reduce distractions such as television and detach their self-worth from external achievements.

He emphasized the importance of following one’s inner calling, free from societal expectations. A striking example he shared was how flashing Coca-Cola and Pepsi logos in a theatre increased sales by 52%, illustrating the power of media manipulation and its effect on consumer behavior.

He encouraged the audience to practice independent, critical thinking, and to be wary of blindly trusting media and popular opinions. Mr. Selvaraj also challenged traditional beliefs around finance, questioning the true security of banks and highlighting how 80% of global wealth is inherited, pointing to deep-rooted inequalities.

He concluded by saying that real wealth lies not in hard work alone, but in delivering genuine value. The session was a powerful call to live with awareness, authenticity, and purpose, despite the distractions of modern life.

Deens PU College had the privilege of hosting Mr. Manoj Kumar Kolla, Deputy Director (South), for the annual academic inspection.

During his visit, Mr. Kolla commended the college’s state-of-the-art infrastructure and engaged in meaningful interactions with both students and faculty. He praised the dedicated efforts of the teaching staff and acknowledged the college’s ability to balance academic excellence with vibrant co-curricular involvement, applauding the achievement of 100% academic results.

His encouraging feedback serves as a strong affirmation of our institution’s ongoing commitment to holistic education and continuous improvement.

Venue: Deens Pre-University College
Organized by: Department of Science, Deens Pre-University College

Deens Pre-University College was honored to host Dr. Chitra Viswanathan, a senior scientist from DRDO, for an expert lecture on May 17, 2025. The talk explored the critical role of physics, mathematics, AI, and computer science in modern warfare and defense.

Dr. Chitra Viswanathan highlighted how mathematics—through areas like calculus, graph theory, and number theory—forms the backbone of data analysis, secure communication, and strategic planning in defense systems. She referenced historical wartime applications to illustrate their impact.

She also traced the evolution of artificial intelligence, from its origins at the 1956 Dartmouth Conference to its rise in the 2000s and present-day challenges. While AI enhances decision-making and automation in defense, she emphasized that it cannot replace human intelligence on the ground.

A major focus was on &  “Sensors and Shooters”  the use of IoT, radar, and audiovisual tech integrated with communication networks for real-time military operations. Dr. Chitra
Viswanathan explained the strategic practice of relocating armed forces every 5–6 years to prevent enemy manipulation.

The lecture concluded with insights into CHISR Akashteer, India’s advanced AI-based air defense system, launched on November 24. It played a key role in Operation Sindoor, enhancing airspace security and base design.

The session provided a powerful blend of scientific insight and real-world relevance, leaving students with a deeper understanding of the intersection between technology and national defense.

Dr. Chitra Viswanathan’s lecture effectively connected academic knowledge with defense applications, making it an enriching experience for all participants.
